The outrigger array is composed of 345 tanks filled with purified water. Each tank is 1.55 m in diameter and 1.65 m in height and they are separated with distance between 12 to 18 m. They are equipped by a single Hamamatsu R5912 8” photomulitplier tube (PMT) upward facing and anchored at the bottom of the tank. In order to limit the cable length between tanks and the readout electronics, the array is divided into 5 sections, named with letters from A to E (see Fig 1) containing 69 tanks each. The equipment needed to run and acquire the data for each section is centralised into nodes located in the middle of each section. The deployment of the outrigger array happened between September 2017. September 2018 (the timeline can be seen in Figure 1). The array has been continuously taking data since then. Analogue signals from the PMTs are sent through RG-59 cables to the node. This signal is separated from the HV that powers the PMT by a pick-off module.|More Americans are able to buy healthy foods near them, but 17.6 million people in the U.S. The United States still struggles to feed people healthy food, according to a new analysis by Reinvestment Fund, a non-profit organization. The analysis of limited supermarket areas, or LSAs, shows that in most states, access to healthy food improved, even in states with significant population growth such as Florida and Arizona. The number of people who lived in LSAs is down 3.1 million from 2010 - that's a decrease of 6.8 percent in 2010 to 5.6 percent in 2016. But progress hasn't been consistent across the country. Large clubs typically require membership fees that may be a barrier for some families. And, when there are fewer grocery stores in a given area, food prices are typically higher. Additionally, the analysis found that LSAs - often called food deserts - are disproportionately found in areas where people have low incomes, live in poverty or are people of color. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention announced in May 2021 that vaccinated individuals no longer had to wear masks in public or indoors. It looked like the U.S. Fast forward to July 27, 2021, and things have changed, partly because the highly contagious delta variant strain of coronavirus is surging. But also because as of July 28, 2021, less than half of all Americans (48.8 percent) are fully vaccinated against coronavirus. These two things combined led the CDC to reverse its mask guidelines from May, suggesting now even the fully vaccinated need to mask up again - and not surprisingly, a lot of Americans are very unhappy, some even resorting to burning masks in protest. A little civil unrest in a period of unrest for all of civilization? A loud plea for a return to normalcy during these abnormal times? Haven't we been here before? Nancy K.
