The emotional strength is another distinguishing trait of a Ukrainian woman. Due to different reasons such as the Second World War, crises in the country, negative social phenomena (alcohol addiction, criminality), she had to be strong to bear all those things. During the Second World War, she'd been waiting for years for a son, a husband, a brother and in the meantime she had to protect herself, get some food, and participate in her community's concerns while men were fighting. Speaking about negative social phenomena, unfortunately, the alcohol and drug addiction is a very popular phenomenon in Ukraine. Ukrainian wives, mothers, and sisters are used to fighting for their husbands, sons, and brothers to bring them back to a normal life.
